Youth Group Leader
Position Description
Position Objective: To develop relationships with the youth of our church that will help them to grow in the love and faith of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to help them develop spiritually as young adults.
Responsibilities:
- Plan monthly encounters with our youth at the Middle School and High School level. The
frequency and time of such encounters will be determined by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC), and the Youth Group Leader. On average the group will meet every other Sunday during the school year, with occasional midweek events and/or meetings. - To be available to model faithful observance of Sunday worship and exposure to the youth in the Sunday worship setting.
- Plan occasional events for social and spiritual interaction outside of the local church setting. The
Pastor and the Youth Group Leader will approve events. - Both SPRC Chairperson and the Finance Chairperson must approve all extra costs for retreats, extended missions' projects. The Youth Group Leader must submit a proposal to the SPRC and Finance Chairperson prior to making such plans public to the youth or others within the church.
- The Youth Group Leader shall not hold any meeting with the youth of the church that violates the "Safe Sanctuary" policy of the New York Annual Conference. Should the pastor or his designate be unavailable for a meeting of the United Methodist Church of Monroe Youth Group, the Youth Group Leader must cancel the meeting, but shall be paid for such a scheduled meeting.
- The Youth Group Leader is directly supervised by the pastor, and will be appointed a liaison from the SPRC.
The position goals will be set annually, by mutual agreement with the SPRC, and will be reviewed quarterly. The
Youth Group Leader can at any time request a review of her/his position and this job description by the SPRC.
Position Compensation: The position includes a stipend of $5000.001 for the work year2. The "Job Description" may change once the program has been implemented: however, revisions to language or duties would be made in consultation with the Youth Group Leader. This position is offered as at will employment.3
