Church Council 2008
CHURCH COUNCIL REPORT TO ANNUAL CHARGE CONFERENCE
The Church Council has been blessed this year with dedicated and enthusiastic members. The newer members have brought a fresh perspective to the Council, while those members with longer tenure have provided continuity and the benefit of their wisdom and experience.
- Pastor Kregg has provided wonderful spiritual leadership. We sincerely appreciate his enthusiasm and dedication!
- The Missions Team has been active in many areas, including sandwiches for King's Pantry, Mother's Day blankets, and mission dinners for Mozambique.
- Annette ministered to our brothers and sisters in Mozambique during the summer as part of the Volunteers in Mission team.
- We have a wonderful new photo directory due to the efforts of the Membership team and others. The team continues to reach out to visitors and those interested in becoming a part of our church family.
- Although budget issues continue to be a concern, the Adopt a Bill program in 2008 and the Bury the Plow program in early 2009 made significant contributions to reducing our use of the credit line.
- The Education team has provided a wonderful Sunday School program for our Youth, and has sponsored an Easter breakfast and Egg hunt and Sunday School picnic. Vacation Bible School was held in July.
- The Service Auction and Harvest Festival were very successful and provided wonderful opportunities for fellowship.
- We continued our work with Natural Church Development. Our church committees worked on discerning how best to incorporate Passionate Spirituality (our minimum factor) into meetings and missions. On Missions Sunday, members of our Missions team witnessed their Passionate Spirituality and how it drives them to serve Christ.
- The Worship team has worked closely with Pastor Gabor and our Choir Director and Organist to provide an inspirational worship experience. Holy Week services received many positive comments.
- The Trustees have maintained the building and grounds with dedication, and completed a major building repair project. Several work days were held throughout the year and were well attended.
- The Care Team has done an excellent job in tending to our church family. Their dedication to this mission is greatly appreciated.
- SPR is actively seeking candidates for the part-time Youth Director position.
- We conducted a series of Cottage meetings in early 2009, and identified areas of key focus for the year - Giving, Youth, Evangelism, and Social Activities. Future plans will offer many opportunities for church members to get involved.
- Kiddie Campus continues to provide a quality preschool/Pre-k program.
As we move into 2009, I'm continually inspired by the faith in action that I witness in our church family, and I'm thankful for the many hours of dedicated service that have been given for the glory of our Creator.
Respectfully submitted,
Heather Arnold
Church Council Chair
